Pants Dance Video Game by Subway

If we could all really "digest" the message of a healthy lifestyle/diet from a video game, life would truly be sweet. So sweet in fact we would probably never overindulge in cake and milkshakes. Ahhhh, what a dreamer I can be. Cake, milkshakes and even french fries are just a few of the items to avoid while playing the online video game produced by Subway titled Pants Dance. The pants in the title are Jared's, of course.

The spokesman for Subway's healthy sandwich line is retiring his famous fat pants that were featured prominently in print and TV ads. Jared has kept off the 245 pounds that he began losing ten years ago. To celebrate, Subway created a video game where you try to catch healthy food including yogurt, water, and of course Subway sandwiches as well as sneakers and dumbbells, in your pants to lose weight. However you must also avoid unhealthy foods and the accessories of unhealthy lifestyle choices, which include a video game controller.

Hats off to Jared for taking the weight off! The game is fun, but the message is even better. I wouldn't waste my time on the game. I would actually put on my sneakers and grab my hand weights for a circuit workout. But that is just me.

Source

Quiznos vs. Subway: Which Should You Order?

When it comes to eating a sammie, where should you go? Subway and Quiznos seem like they are equal footing in popularity, but what about calories? Take this quiz and see if your palate agrees with your desire to cut calories.
Rise in Obesity Due to Rise in Health Foods

Ever wonder why we are seeing way more 'health' foods being advertised yet, as a nation, we're still getting more and more obese?

Well a new (and interesting) study from the Journal of Consumer Research explains it as the "American obesity paradox": The parallel rise in obesity rates and the popularity of healthier food. In a series of four studies, the researchers reveal that we over-generalize (and overestimate) "healthy" claims. In fact, consumers chose beverages, side dishes, and desserts containing up to 131% more calories when the main dish was positioned as "healthy".

What does this mean? Well just because Jared lost a million pounds by eating at Subway and only Subway, does not mean that everything sold there falls under the healthy realm -- A 6-inch meatball sub has 580 calories. If you're able, then definitely check out the nutrition information available when you're eating out. And remember, just because you are getting a salad does not necessarily mean that you can also have the super sized coke, large fries and jumbo peanut butter cookie, and still call it a healthy meal.

Here's the scenario: You are out on a road trip with your friends so you are eating a lot of fast food. You are also watching your weight and counting calories.
Which Has More Sodium?

Watching your sodium intake? Then take this quiz on which has more sodium: One 6 inch club sandwich from Subway or 3 ounces (51 chips) of Lay's Salt & Vinegar potato chips?

Subway Breakdown

Subway has done a good job marketing themselves as a fresh, low-fat alternative to other fast food chains. Turns out, Subway isn't half bad for you! I'm actually impressed.

If you can stand to be in a sandwich place and not get a sandwich, then definitely go for the: Grilled Chicken and Baby Spinach Salad with olive oil and vinegar because it only has 185 calories, 8 grams of fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 450 mg of sodium and 11 grams of carbs.

You should probably get the: Turkey Breast 6-inch Sandwich on wheat bread (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, pickles and olives) with 280 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 1020 mg of sodium and 46 grams of carbs.

You could also get the: Roast Beef 6-inch Sandwich on wheat bread (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, pickles and olives) with 290 calories, 5 grams of fat, o grams of trans fat, 920 mg of sodium and 45 grams of carbs.

I know it may sound tempting, but do not get the: Meatball Marinara 6-inch Sandwich on wheat bread (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, pickles, olives and cheese) with 560 calories, 24 grams of fat, 1 gram of trans fat, 1610 mg of sodium and 63 grams of carbs.

For other ways to watch your calories at Subway,
