There are so many reasons I love Atalanta Athleticwear, and one of them is the question posed on the home page of their web site - "Does this skirt make by butt look fast?" It just makes me chuckle.

The second reason to love this women owned and operated business is they named their business after my favorite character on the positive message laden Free to Be You and Me album I overplayed when I was little. Atalanta is a goddess of the hunt, travel and adventure, and was a legend for her athletic prowess.

The true reason I love this company is they make a kick ass running skirt they have named the Commitment ($54). Not only does this skirt make my butt look faster, it also provided full coverage, and then some, of my bum. The under shorts are just a tad bit shorter than the skirt, and I appreciate all the thigh coverage I can get. Made from dry moisture wicking, fast-drying fabric you know that you can run fast and stay chafe free. Plus there are two great pockets in the back of the skirt perfect for carrying your iPod, keys, or some pocket change - which is important since you can easily wear this running skirt about town for some pre or post-run erranding.

I am always on the lookout for cute running skirts. They are just so cute, while being so practical. This Chase Skort by Athleta is a little more like a running mini - it has a 4 inch inseam. Owww!!!!! The skirt and the under shorts are both made out of ultra-breathable Power Mesh fabric so you will stay cool while you look cool. The waistband sits flat so it's comfy, and there is a hidden, zippered pocket for your keys and ID. It comes in white with an adorable pattern for $54 or in wasabi (green), petunia (hot pink) or black (that needs no explanation) for $49.

When I go for a run or hike, nothing bothers me more than my shorts riding up into my lady business. I'm constantly having to pull fabric out of places it shouldn't be in the first place, and it's more than annoying - it's quite uncomfortable too.

Check out the Sugar Mini Skirt from prAna. Could the name be any more perfect? I want to get one for all the Sugar gals.

It's got an elastic waistband and built in spandex shorts, so they'll stay put when you run. Plus, I know I don't feel comfortable running out in public in shorty shorts or tight spandex, so the skirt part will cover your booty, but will be short enough (they've got a 3 inch inseam) so you can run freely.

I think of myself as a jock just because I played sports in high school. But really, I am just a grown up girl with two very girly daughters.
