Polar and Adidas: United, Awesome and Expensive

Adidas is known for their fitness gear, apparel and accessories. Polar makes great heart rate monitors. Integrate the two together and you have a unique fitness training system called Project Fusion.

The clothes (called it adiStar Fusion Apparel) feature integrated soft textile heart rate monitor sensors built right into the fabric so there are no hard parts or irritating seams. The sensors communicate with the Polar watch, so you can monitor your heart rate. If you get the adiStar Fusion shoe, it has a sensor that fits in the midsole so you can track your distance and speed, which is also displayed on the watch. Check out the video to see what I mean.

Fore: Stella McCartney Adds Golf to Adidas Line

Stella McCartney is about to make hitting a hole-in-one a very stylish affair. The designer is extending her relationship with Adidas by coming out with a clothing line for women who love and spend a lot of time on the golfing green.

The Spring/Summer '08 Golf collection will hit stores in February and features items women will want to wear even when not playing the sport. ''I think it is about time that women who play golf can now echo what they wear in everyday life on the green. It’s exciting for me to bring a bit of an edge to golf," Stella said. I couldn't agree more. The collection is inspired by men's silhouettes and tailoring but includes feminine details. Tee time, anyone?

Antiperspirants Don't Let You Sweat

Taking care of yourself, watching what you eat and exercising, you might be a little more sensitive about what you put on your body. While the myth that aluminum in deodorant causes breast cancer has been debunked, you might not feel comfortable with using antiperspirants that contain aluminum since they actually prevent you from sweating.

The aluminum in antiperspirants is drawn into the cells of your dermis (the middle layer of your skin), and it squeezes your sweat gland ducts closed, trapping sweat, preventing you from perspiring. It is not the sweat that creates odor, but the bacteria on your skin and the sweat combined. There are some important days when I can't avoid antiperspirants, but other days I like to just use deodorant. It seems more natural.

I have tried many aluminum-free deodorants and here are some that I have liked.

I was in the store yesterday looking for new shorts to run in. What is up with running shorts being so loose and frumpy looking? I know that exercising isn't a fashion show, but you still want to look good, right? I mean I'm not working this hard to cover up all my lean leg muscles now am I?

Then I spotted something different - the Adidas Supernova Running Skort. It's a fitted - but not super tight - skirt (13 inch outseam), with fitted shorts attached underneath.

The material was silky smooth and very flexible - something called Ventilated ClimaCool to keep you dry. In the dressing room I practiced running in place, squatting, kicking and jumping is this skort, and it moved with me and looked adorable. I also love that it sat low on my hips and had a thick waistband.

Just when I thought that tennis gear could not get any cuter, I find another awesome dress from Adidas.

Some people avoid going to the gym altogether because they just don't have good gear. Understood since workout clothes can be downright hideous.

The Mind and Body line from Adidas is not only workout friendly, but it is also fashion friendly. I am loving all three pieces together but if your budget limits, any of the elements would be a good addition to your workout attire.

'Tis the season to start making a list of all of the cool fitness gear you want from Santa. I think you should add these to your list:
The Adidas by Stella McCartney Zalika Athletic Shoes ($135) are super cool because they are not nearly as bulky as most athletic shoes (you can basically collapse them entirely) which means your big bag excuse for not working out is no longer usable. They are not the shoes I would recommend for high impact aerobics or running but great for riding the bike or using the elliptical. They are also great if you walk to work but change into heels once you get there. Buy a pair here.
