I recently got a question from one reader that I thought you guys would have some great suggestions for. Here's her question:
"My doc told me I have to cut calories out of my diet to lose weight. He said the best way would be to stop drinking soda, but I love soda.

You can keep yourself hydrated with just about any liquid, but I find I drink plain old water more than any other beverage. It may be a zero calorie drink, but it doesn't really offer much nutritionally or taste wise either. That's why including other beverages in your diet is a good idea; they provide vitamins, calcium, antioxidants, and something we all feel we sometimes need — caffeine.

So you stopped off at
Dunkin' Donuts for a coffee, but it's so hot out that you're in the mood for something cooler. Check out the chart below to see how their
cold specialty drinks compare. You may be surprised at how many calories, sodium, and sugar they contain.

With all these studies on the health benefits of
coffee, juices (especially
antioxidant juices), and tea (especially
green tea), we have some healthy choices in the morning. Me, I typically stick to my morning cup of green tea . .

With
soda sales down this year, reports say that folks are turning towards water and enhanced waters and teas before soda — yipee! Me, I am not and never will be a soda kind of girl. However, there are folks out there that still are drinking it despite the health risks, so what about you?
Easter is all about the brunch. If you go out or stay in here is a little reference guide for a variety of drinks that often accompany any brunch from fresh squeezed fruit juice to the classic Bloody Mary (which is not really the best way to get your lycopene, but might be the most fun).

Fit's Tips: Making your own beverages is always better since you know exactly what's going in your glass.

My earlier post about
Shirley Temples got me thinking about my favorite ginger ale, Blenheim's. A few years ago, I came across
Blenheim's Hot Ginger Ale and WOW! it completely knocked my socks off (in fact, that used to be one of their slogans).
