So You've Got a Lean Cuisine but No Microwave . . . Now What?

So you've happened upon one of the diet-friendly $2 treasure troves that is a Lean Cuisine from your local frozen section, and you're about to embark on an expedited culinary journey that ends in some mango chicken and coconut rice or garlic noodles and beef. (I know, right? Yum.) There's just one problem: you don't have a microwave.

I recently happened upon this problem myself. You've got what is arguably the most affordable and low-maintenance healthy meal ready to go, but no way of cooking it. It expressly says not to put it in the oven (likely because it's in a plastic container, and we all know how that would end), but it's either that or the stovetop — so what do you do?

Pop the frozen food out of the plastic container and into a glass casserole dish. Preheat your oven to about 350 degrees, and once adequately heated, put the dish in the oven and let the games begin. About 10 to 15 minutes in to the cooking (depending on your dish), stir it up a bit and pop it back in the oven for another five.

And that's it! No fuss, no actual cooking, just heating and stirring. Yes, it takes significantly longer than microwaving, but that's the price you pay for a microwave-free lifestyle, you know? And don't worry: it'll taste just as delicious.
