Fittingly Mad: Can't a Girl Go For a Run? Geez

Here's the deal. This actually happened. No joke. I was out running the other day and some guy yelled from his porch, "Hey baby. Why are you running away? Why don't you run over here?" I wanted to run a mac truck over him.

It was as if my baggy sweatshirt, said "Rude comments welcome?" Why do guys feel like they can hoot and holler at anyone with boobs? Do they think they are being funny? Sexy? Motivating? My response was run even faster to get away from the idiot.

Now I'm not saying all guys are to blame. But it's that one sleazy guy who can ruin a run and running alone in general. Don't let him ruin it for you though.

Fit's Tip: If you run alone keep the volume low on your iPod so you can still hear what's going on around you. If you run in the dark, use well lit streets. Or call up your best friend and run together in a girl pack.

Oh that just drives me nuts.. I hate it when guys do that sh*t My sister's only 16 but older guys are starting to do it to HER on the street, sometimes yelling really obscene things.. I really want to lay the smackdown every time it happens *sigh*

No running at night by yourself Fit, that's not safe! Angry Mob

That totally happened to me. My boyfriend said, "Well, did you run up and slap him one?" Yeah right. Real smart idea.

Guys just don't understand. They don't have to worry about this kind of stuff. I always run - with a friend- on the bike path near my house. That way, there are always people around.

This is totally part of the reason why I do all my training on the treadmill. Some may think I'm a wimp with my tv and climate-controlled environment, but it's a whole lot safer and you don't have to worry about jackasses honking or yelling at you.

Ugh, that's always annoying. Do they actually think that it's a valid way of picking up a woman?

Beaner, I'd love to smack them, too, but you're right, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

On the plus side, the construction workers across the street from us are actually very polite and sweet, so they're destroying stereotypes left, right and center!. Laughing out loud

I run a lot, and this happens to me all the time, particularly from cars driving by. A honk I can stand, but when they yell comments out the window....oh god i get mmmaaaddd. I'm usually pretty good with my temper, but I have flipped off QUITE a few guys in those situations.
Seriously, do they think that they genuinely have a chance of picking a girl up by yelling out a freaking car window?

I do run at night sometimes with my ipod, but i take one of my dogs with me. She's part wolf/german shepherd/black lab, so she's really scary looking, even though she's really a sweetheart.

Ooh, I got to get me an attack dog. Great idea. Otherwise, I stick to places that are only meant for people exercising - with NO cars or non-runners. I love paths aroiund lakes or bike paths.

And I usually only run when it's nice out - because there's most likely to be more people out than let's say in the winter.

Winter is for inside exercise like hot yoga and the machines.

Do they think that's going to make a girl want to come over and talk to them?! Puzzled I've stopped trying to figure men out. Sorry you had to experience that.
