WARNING: Hardee's Country Breakfast Burrito

Hardee's, the chain that also brought us an 1100 calorie Southwest Chicken Salad, is assaulting health junkies once again with a new menu item to hit restaurants: the Country Breakfast Burrito.

This massive burrito is made from two omelets, five hashrounds (WTF are hashrounds?), cheddar cheese, and sausage gravy all wrapped in a tortilla. Don't go licking your lips just yet: This burrito packs in a whopping 920 calories, 23 grams of saturated fat, and about nearly 2000 milligrams of sodium. I am a big fan of everything in moderation, but I can honestly say that there is not any real reason for anyone to eat this for breakfast, or anytime really. I know a lot of us have it in our heads that breakfast burritos can be a healthy breakfast alternative, but this burrito could not be further from that — steer clear.

I tried to find a better alternative for breakfast when eating at Hardee's, and the best choice I could find is the Sunrise Croissant with Ham, which weighs in at 430 calories and 10 grams of saturated fat. Needless to say, I won't be eating breakfast there anytime soon.

Can you get any more UNHEALTHY!!! At best you can divide this into 3 and have 1/3 for breakfast, 1/3 for lunch, and 1/3 for dinner...seeing as how 1/3 is equates 1 MEAL!!! DISGUSTING!!!

Do they do this on purpose? I mean, why else would you make a breakfast item with 60 grams of fat unless you're trying to prove a point - that American will eat anything.

I know! I was so disgusted yesterday when I first read this. So not cool. I just don't understand how they think it's okay to make something like this. The rationale they gave was this: if you eat at MCD's, you'd have to eat two of everything to feel full. This way, they make you full in one sitting. WHAT?! You know how I feel after a meal like that? Barf!

One of the local radio announcers here was talking about this this morning. He said that Hardees stated they were not attempting to provide healthy food. They are providing food that will fill you.
UM, I can eat a lot more healthy than that and still be full.

I think simply reading the nutritional rundown raised my cholesterol a little. Yuck! Are you freaking kidding me that people in America eat this crap?

This was featured on the front page of our paper today and although I knew it wouldn't be healthy, I think it looks good.

Chikeebabe, it has sausage gravy in it. I'm seriously laughing my butt off at this burrito. It's obscene.

Wow. That is over half of my DAY'S calories in one burrito...yikes!! This is why I avoid Hardee's at all costs...they have THE MOST unhealthy food of almost any fast food chain. I've heard that they try to appeal to "Young American men and women who aren't watching what they eat". Way to cop out there, Hardee's. For the same amount of calories, you could eat something like: a bowl of oatmeal, an apple, a glass of milk, coffee with cream and sugar, a glass of OJ, a donut and 2 scrambled eggs (and I'm still not 100% sure that's even 1000 calories).

Oh, and hashrounds are Hardee's version of hash browns...they're little round discs of hash browns; hence the name "hashrounds". I used to get them there when I was a kid...that was the only thing on the breakfast menu I liked.

speaking of things that are a trillion calories, fit you should do a story on the hungry man frozen dinners. my roomie and i were stuck in the supermarket line that was so long that it went down the frozen food isle. we had lots of time to check out nutritional lables, and dear GOD there are about 1000 calories in some of those hungry man dinners. SO NASTY.

Are you people joking? To the person who thinks it's three meals - either you have an eating disorder or you're really, really bad at math. To anyone who thinks it's half your day's calories - you're not exercising enough.
