Just because I thought this little comic strip from GeekCulture.com was cute and quite appropriate, I wanted to share.

With all the talk about obesity being contagious, are your friends making you fat or are you the one making your friends fat? Now that is the real question...

I think it's interesting and that there's some truth to it.

Great point although I think the real blame should be on yourself. It's your mouth and it's your hand reaching for the pizza and food; your friend isn't prying your mouth open and cramming it down your throat. If your friend gets the junk food, they can eat have it; Your the one making the decision to eat it. I might take a bit out of the food however I won't eat more just because they reach for another piece of pizza. I can see where the "blame the friends" theory can work however I feel like we are all resposible for what we eat.

my friends definitely urge me to eat more than i feel comfortable eating. they don't seem to listen to their hunger or fullness. they don't make healthy choices very often. if i wasn't educated on proper nutrition and i didn't have a strong willpower, i would probably weigh more than i do.

Well I actually had a little debate about this...

when I'm by myself I'm EXTREMELY healthy--no junk food and tons of exercise--but when I'm with my friends, I tend to let things slip. Weirdly enough they eat unhealthy all the time and when I'm around them I almost buy into their lifestyle even though it really has no appeal to me.

I don't think it's their fault--granted I believe it's the opposite, it's entirely on me--but it's strange to see how eating behaviors can influence others.

Lol. when me and my friends meet up, we usually pig-out in some restaurant and then hangout in a coffe shop. Talk about packing calories for hibernation.
