4 Warning Signs of Skin Cancer

Lately we have become so hyper-sensitive about sun exposure and the damaging effects it has on our health. Wearing sunscreen and using self-tanners can all help to prevent possible future outbreaks of skin cancer, but what about the sun exposure we've already had?

Unfortunately, there was probably a time when we weren't so careful. Previous sun exposure might cause skin cancer, so it's important for you (or a close friend) to check your skin. Look carefully at moles and beauty marks to see if they have any of these symptoms:

Fit's Tips: If you have any doubts about a specific mole, make an appointment with a dermatologist. They may perform a biopsy where they remove a portion of it and check for cancer. Since skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., it's better to be safe, so if they do find cancer cells or are unsure, they'll remove the entire mole. To protect yourself from future sun damage, check out these tips.

THANK YOU so much for this! I've got a few that I keep getting differing advice on. I know I should just go to the Dr. already, but this makes me want to RUSH out there. I kept hearing that if it was raised it was bad, not just mishapen. YIKES...I'm calling the Dr. right now!!!

I had a big mole removed on my arm (about the size of a pencil eraser) that was not cancerous. 6 months later, a freckle (or something of the sorts) is starting to grow back in it's place, rather quickly. It is flat, but not round (sort of jagged). Of course I know I need to go see a derm. about this, but does anyone have any thoughts on this, or experienced the same? thanks.

I've had a suspicious one on my chest and well, can I still get checked if I"m pregnant? I've wanted to go, but how do they check? I guess I should ask my doc, but I dont want them to do anything that i'm not supposed to do.

UPDATE: My man went to the doc and dermatologist, just now! They had to biopsy the mole and he will find out after Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving and prayers everyone! I am trying not to worry, but it has been there a while....he finally gave in to my nagging to go to the doc.
