Starbucks Orange Frappuccino Breakdown

Summer is upon us and Starbucks has created a new flavored Frappuccino to entice you. Cool coffee drinks in the heat seem like a good idea, but their new featured beverage the Orange Crème Frappuccino® Blended Crème, doesn't even contain coffee. Nope, it's a glorified dreamsicle milkshake. I am not knocking the flavor, but the calories seem a bit high, though you can always opt for the Light version made with Splenda. The Light option has no whip. No siree bob...if you get the light version, you will get no whip. In my opinion, all these drinks should be ordered with NO WHIP, since the whipped cream adds a lot of additional calories to the drinks.

Here's the breakdown of the Orange drinks now featured at Starbucks.

Flavor (Tall 12 oz.) Calories Fat calories Carbs (g) Sugar (g)
Orange Crème Frappuccino® Blended Crème No Whip 250 15 51 42
Orange Crème Frappuccino® Blended Crème with Whip 330 90 53 44
Orange Mocha Frappuccino® Blended Coffee No Whip 230 25 47 40
Orange Mocha Frappuccino® Blended Coffee with Whip 310 100 49 40
Orange Crème Frappuccino® Light Blended Crème 110 0 25 20

All these drinks contain a lot of sugar, even the light version has 20 grams which is roughly 4 teaspoons. Too much sugar for my taste. Plus, I generally want and/or need the caffeine so I will stick with my simple iced coffee.

That looks yummy, though I steer clear of drinks with calories.

Not a big fan of Orange - Love the cholate type ones - so I try to steer clear of Starbucks in the summer

i like the iced coffee too. actually, iced vanilla latte. it has more sugar, but the iced coffee alone is too bland.

Why can't the Whip option be available in a low-calorie variety? I order No Whip all the time but whipped cream sometimes adds to the treat of having the drink.

Starbucks was giving out free samples at the Art Musuem in Philly - aka the Rocky Steps (yeah, I was a cheesy tourist and ran up them Smiling) and they're REALLY sweet. Sicky, feel your teeth rotting in your head sweet. I couldn't even finish the sample.

I personally don't think fruit should be mixed with coffee - raspberry latte YUCK!

Gumdrops - you can always order a Sugar Free Vanilla Latte, it will cut out the sugar and about 1/3 the calories!

Does anyone know what the Chia Frap has calorie wise?? I love that, but always feel like it is WAY too bad for me, even without whip!

I personally don't think the orange frap looks that good... BUT, I have been drinking the light fraps for forever now, and I can't even tell the difference between the lights and the regulars... so might as well opt for the light Smiling AND... you're not "suppose" to get the whip, but you can ask for it on the light Eye-wink You know... on those days when you allow yourself to cheat Smiling Their whip is soooo good. All in moderation, I say!

I don't like whipped cream, so when I order Starbucks Frappuccinos, it's always without whipped cream, tall and 'light' which means skimmed milk.

i actually tried the light orange frappe the other day. it was realllllly delish but i still dont feel comfortable DRINKING 130 calories. i'd say its something you can "treat" yourself to if you are REALLY craving something creamy. otherwise, i stick the the iced teas at starbucks, and ask for them sugar free. cool, refreshing, and zero calories (just add sweetener). if you get the green tea, even better, because green tea is known to boost your metabolism.

I think the regular orange one is worse than the light. I got the light one because Hungry Girl totally raved about; it was so gross I brought it back to get a fatty caramel frap, and the girl said the regular one was better. Not true at ALL. It has a after taste like vitamins. My friend works at Starbucks, and she said if you ask them to make it with the vanilla base, it tastes like a creamsicle, and doesn't add a lot of calories because it's just the base.
