Biting in to a cool plum in the late afternoon heat of Summer is one of the food joys of the season. Plums are in the height of their season right now, so they are not only tasty but more affordable too. They come in so many varieties and colors, it is hard to get sick of eating these gems.

Plums have been found to increase iron absorption, which could be due to their high vitamin C content. But this fruit is also high in a few powerful phytonutrients, including leutin, an important antioxidant for healthy eyes.

Plums are a tasty low calorie treat and when sliced make a great addition to both salads and cereals. How do you enjoy eating plums?

Are those plums in the picture? They look like grapes.

I heart plums. They are "yums."

I just bought a ton of little plums at the Farmer's Market that look like the ones in Fit's picture!

I don't doubt you, but those are clearly grapes! There are two that are even connected, plums don't do that!

Actually, those are plums, not grapes. They are a variety of really small plums that are very sweet. We used to have a tree that grew them and my sis and I would eat all the ripe ones. I'll eat them randomly when I find good ones at the store or the farmer's market. Sometimes I make them into a crisp if they aren't terribly ripe. They're SO good!
